How Long to Cook Rotisserie Chicken in Air Fryer Oven

If you have an Air Fryer but have not attempted to make an Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken yet, then I encourage you to do it as soon as possible! The chicken cooks perfectly in just 45 minutes and has a crispy skin and moist, juicy tender chicken inside.

While the air fryer rotisserie chicken is an excellent main dish on it's own, it is also great for leftovers. I love to makeBuffalo Chicken Pizza or Chicken Salad Sandwiches with any leftovers.

If there is one appliance you should own, it is the Air Fryer. I started out small, and recently progressed to amuch larger air fryerthat allows me to do so much more. Once I had my new air fryer, I decided to give the Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken method a try. It was the best rotisserie chicken I had ever had!

This Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken turned out so tender and juicy that we were able to give my 7 month old grandson, who is doing baby led weaning, the chicken leg all on his own. He was able to eat that rotisserie chicken with no problem!

If your one who would buy a rotisserie chicken in the deli section of the grocery store, I want you to know that those chickens cannot compare to making your own right at home in the air fryer. I hope you will give it a try.

What You Need To Make An Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken

A whole chicken not more than 4 pounds. Anything larger than that would have been too big for my air fryer.

A blend of your favorite seasonings. Anything goes here. I shared with you my favorite rub that I used on my rotisserie chicken.

Cooking twine is needed to secure the legs and wings to the body of the chicken. This is so the chicken will be compact when roasting on the rotisserie in the air fryer.

Air Fryer Tips for Rotisserie Chicken

  • When cooking a whole chicken, be sure to remove any of the innards from the cavity of the chicken (usually the neck, liver, etc.)
  • Always pat the chicken dry before applying the rub.
  • Use cooking twine to secure the legs and wings to the chicken (see video). Don't be too concerned if your not doing it "right". I ended up wrapping the entire twine around the body to secure the wings together. One day I'll get it right!
  • Follow the instructions that came with your own air fryer for cooking. Different air fryers will require different times. My 4 pound chicken took exactly 45 minutes.
  • The internal temperature of the chicken should be 165 degrees. If it has not reached that temperature at the end of 45 minutes, add 5 minutes at a time until it does.
