Scrapbook & Cards Today Summer Issue

Justine Durrant

While browsing through the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog, I came across their article for their Summer magazine issue. There are so many cool ideas and inspiration in this issue, I thought I really had to share it with everyone!

"Summer is in full swing, and I'm here to take you on a traveling adventure! Don't worry about doing the laundry or calling a pet sitter. This is a tour you can take from right where you sit (which I hope is outside with a cool drink in your hand!). Your ticket to ride—ourSummer 2016 issue!

If you're like me, you love a good glamper (glamorous camper). I have a little vintage camper I can't wait to go exploring in as soon as I'm done getting her glammed up. In the meantime, I love seeing more and more glamper-themed delights. I don't usually include an advertisement in my Look Inside the Issue posts, but I couldn't resist sharing this one. Isn't it the tops? What I wouldn't give to be part of such a cute caravan. Thanks for the happy artwork,Carta Bella!

Maybe the Slugbug Bus is more your speed. Yeah, I'm right there with ya. It's certainly a groovy way to go. And this adorbs line fromDoodlebug Design, featured in our 10 Most Wanted column (pg. 9), sure is righteous! Hop in! Let's hang loose and hit the beach!

Now that we have our transportation figured out, it's time to make a few stops. First, as I mentioned, is the beach. Nothing says summer like a walk along the water. If you're a traditional scrapbooker, consider documenting such a walk with one large, attention-getting focal photo, asStacy Cohen did in our 10 Years, 10 Techniques feature (pg. 21).

If pocket scrapbooking is more your bag,Stephanie Bryan has just the thing. She created this beauty for our Pocket Play column (pg. 15), which is loaded with tips for making such eye-catching designs.

What's that? Both of these projects have you jumping for joy? Me too! Why not make a combination of the two? That's what talentedLisa Dickinson did in our A Cut Above article (pg. 43), which is all about cool die-cutting tricks. You can download her nice "vacation" title card, along with many other free cut files, here. Consider it your souvenir.

If you'd rather hit the open road than cruise the coast, we have a couple of road-trip themed mini albums that are just your speed. First, we were delighted to welcomePeppermint Granberg as our guest columnists for our Make it Mini article this issue (pg. 34). She designed a stylish DIY mini that you'll want to add to your site-seeing list. Check out the full albumhere.

If you've collected lots of mementos throughout your travels, you'll want to pack them in a pretty pocket album, andKrista Wells has just the thing. You'll find her five-star design in this issue's Inspiration Gallery (pg. 63), along with a full agenda of awesome reader-submitted designs.

Don't forget to send those back home a card to let them know you're thinking of them as you enjoy your grand adventure. This sweet design byMelissa Phillipsis one of three stunners featured in her Card Cafe column (pg. 59) this issue.

Nicole Nowosad made this pretty nature-inspired option for our A Cut Above article, which includes a lovely assortment of cards, layouts, and Lisa's pocket page (above). Don't forget to pack the free cut file that goes along with this cutie. You'll find ithere.

Phew! All this travel has me worn out. Time to return home and kick it poolside with the latest issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today . Be sure you snap a quick pic of your water-filled relaxation. Pool pictures make for pretty scrapbook pages. This design byAli Edwards, which is part of her Spark Your Story column (pg. 51), is proof of that.

Thanks for joining me on this trip inside our Summer 2016 issue! I hope you've loved the sites and return home feeling inspired to create and document the rest of your summer comings and goings. Until we meet again, enjoy your creative journey!

I'd like to wish all of our readers in the U.S. a very happy July 4th today. And I hope our Canadian readers enjoyed your Canada Day celebrations. Thanks, all, for making us a part of your summer!

Cheers!
Megan Hoeppner, Editor-in-Chief"

How cool does this issue look? I personally love the road trip themed mini albums! They look super cute and so simple to make if you have the supplies. If you can get your hands on this issue, I definitely recommend that you do, and be sure to tag us in all of your S&CT creations #makerheart.

Thanks for reading, I hope you were as inspired as I was.
